The Real Basics
For teaching in the Basic Education for fifteen years, I guess I can say that I know “THE REAL BASICS”. Education graduates are the next batch of facilitators and activators of learning. Even if the role of teachers transformed from being the controller and source of knowledge to a guide, motivator and trainer of independent learning, their presence is still very much needed in the process. As a provider of graduates who shall carry this noble task, we tend to ask ourselves – “What kind of graduates do we produce?” From the number of subjects to be taken in Professional Education, it seems like everything is important, everything must be remembered, and everything has to be applied. Are we expecting our future teachers to master everything? What are the real basics of teaching in the Basic Education?
Once you get there after being hired as a probationary teacher, you have to show your guts, they are expecting something from you. Mastery of the subject matter, lesson planning, teaching strategies, writing test questions and classroom management are just some of the expectations of your colleagues and coordinators. But, actually when you are already there just remember these three things: develop a sense of commitment to the profession, empathy with students, and cordial relations with the colleagues.
Developing a sense of commitment is knowing the teacher’s obligation to the profession. Once we enter in this course, after the series of activities and practices done inside the classroom and up to practice teaching, we have to embrace everything attached to it. Name it and a teacher would do it. It is a job where rest is just an option, because work is always there, just waiting to be done. Have you ever thought of while you are resting, sitting on your couch, watching TV or browsing your Facebook account, at the same time you are checking quizzes and test papers? How about while lying on your bed, you are planning the activity that your students will be doing in your class the next day? How about while washing dishes, you are thinking of a strategy that is most appropriate for a particular topic and considering also the diversity of your students? How about while you are on your way to the market, and you are thinking of what motivation could be catchy? Want more examples? Ask a teacher.
Empathy with students has something to do with our understanding towards their feelings. Students at their young age, experience a lot of things in their lives. Frustration is one of them. It could be problems from home wherein conflicts among family members exist; classmates who bring pressure; or teachers who can’t make their lessons easily understood. What can we do as teachers? Make the experience of the students inside your class develop their potential and self-confidence. Teachers bring a big impact to the lives of the students. Students see hope in us, let us not fail them.
Cordial relations with the colleagues is something that really need to be given attention. Many teachers don’t develop commitment to the institution because of the pressure coming from co-teachers. The demand of “pakikisama” is very evident for an entrant to get the sympathy of others. It takes effort, patience and strong determination. Colleagues are always grouped into three: those who will challenge you, those who will help you and those who won’t mind your existence. These are the kinds of people who are waiting for you in the field.
Teachers should never consider the idea that teaching is a career. For fifteen years of practice in education, for me teaching is far more than a career; it comes with a very noble responsibility of preparing the next generation to survive the demands of the time and become catalysts of social transformation. I am not saying that we don’t expect gains in return, in fact to some it is their bread and butter. Fifteen years ago, after graduating, I tried teaching as a job. As years passed by, I did not realize that I have given my life to it. At the start, I wanted to perform well for my superiors to know that I am good. Now, I am giving my best, I am doing my best and I sacrifice a lot not to get appreciation from my superiors but because I want my students to get the kind of education that they deserve. Now, when I am giving advice to new the teachers, I would always tell them that once they did something better for their students, they are also doing the same thing to their superiors and to the school.
Schools should provide a structured program for novice teachers through a mentoring program. According to a study, teachers who were provided with multiple supports, were less likely to move to other schools and less likely to leave teaching occupation altogether after their first year. Some forms of assistance and support, however, did not appear to increase beginners’ retention (Ingersoll and Smith). Becoming a teacher does not end to being competent to the area of the study or being used to the school environment but most of all is being a person with good values. Together with the effectiveness of a teacher in the subject, a personal character must also be visible along the teaching. This is what each teacher should strengthen to his/her teaching. Look at the leaders we have now in our country, all of them graduated from prestigious universities with honors but how they are performing their duties and responsibilities? They all have the skills and knowledge but personal values are sometimes missing and if seems like their conscience is not bothering them anymore.
Everything must start within. If all teachers possess commitment and values, our students and colleagues will definitely imbibe them. Create a positive difference in everything we do. This will only happen if we are doing THE REAL BASICS.

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." -Maimonides
Through this blog, my desire to teach was not only boosting. It is already a burning desire. There are instances in my life that sometimes I am thinking is being a teacher a right choice? Is this where the rest of my life would be? Many will think yes, definitely. But is it really?
As a neophyte teacher, there are really 3 groups of people you’ll get to encounter as your journey starts. Some will be bringing you down and won't stop unless you really at the bottom. There are those who would be giving you the courage to face another day and there are those who just don't care. Through all the trials and challenges we are facing, this blog reminded me that we are not here to please our administrators, supervisors or even the school itself. Everything is about the learning that the students will be receiving. As long as they have learned, all the sacrifices are worthy. After all, teaching is the noblest profession. No one would be rich out of teaching but we would be receiving the best gift we could ever receive through their gratitude and indulgence from heaven. And with a courageous heart, I would definitely say YES to teaching! YES to the real basics!
Always be reminded that teaching is a choice. It is not an option. As a teacher, be the best you can be! Make sure to give what is due for the students. Do not give them half-baked discussions. Give them the opportunity to explore the world by being their guide on the side.

It is what teachers think, what teachers do, and what teachers are at the level of the classroom that ultimately shapes the kind of learning that young people get.
- Andy Hargreaves and Michael Fullan
There's a lot I love about being a teacher. Teaching is one of those rare professions that keeps your brain young, allowing you to continue your own journey as a student and a lifelong learner.
I believe true growth as a person can happen only by challenging yourself with situations that are not familiar to you. Throwing yourself into a job in which you can encounter people of different ethnicities and religions and with different philosophies, learning styles, and backgrounds can only cause you to grow as a person, and public education provides that environment.
Whatever your beliefs are, the fact is that a good teacher continues to be a student. This could mean you continue to be a student in a graduate class, or you could simply be a student of your own school community.
In my two years of teaching, I learned more from other teachers, and with my students. In turn, when they saw my own enthusiasm for learning, students were more inclined to learn from me. And that's how my own happiness and growth has translated into the success of my students.
"Now, I am giving my best, I am doing my best and I sacrifice a lot not to get appreciation from my superiors but because I want my students to get the kind of education that they deserve. Now, when I am giving advice to new the teachers, I would always tell them that once they did something better for their students, they are also doing the same thing to their superiors and to the school."
So inspired with this statements. Reading this blog can make my teaching more productive that you're not here in this profession to please your superiors but to share what you have learnt and be a good and effective teacher to your students. Do your best!! and GOd will do the rest.
Each school year brings new people into my life. Each unit and lesson brings new perspectives. Each failure, when looked at formatively, can help you solve new problems. Each success, when used reflectively, can be even greater the next time.

Being a teacher is a specific image of the social side of human beings. A teacher lives his/her life personally while trying to share it to others. It is a simultaneous enrichment of self and practice of responsibility to others. A teacher, while helping in the transformation of the youth, is at the same time learning from his or her students.
Learning from students is not only limited to its academic sense but also on a personal level. As teachers, it asked from us to also check the entirety of the well being of our students. This entirety includes complete moral and spiritual guidance to students. The more we guide them the more we can know them personally and the more that we can connect to them.
This personal connection within the bounds of our professional life proves that teaching is not really about money. Teaching becomes pure self sacrifice because you don't only teach students, on the contrary, you have to embrace their flaws, mistakes and their whole personality. This perhaps is the true image of how committed teachers are towards their work.
Commitment in our profession also asks us to have a continual training and education.
In the end, i guess, one of the most important contribution we can give is to search for promising students who can take our place in the future. Let us not feel threatened when our students surpass us but rather let us celebrate for the fact that we were able to form great minds and responsible citizens for this nation.
Your words ma'am made me remember the idea why i wanted to teach. I was reminded to keep on loving the profession and the students and coworkers that i encounter in it. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and i hope that i will also be able to share mine

Teach to touch! This is one of the famous lines I often hear during my college days. Now that I am in the organization that I've wished for, its really a hard task to do. But if you as a teacher is committed, devoted, and dedicated there is no way for you to do your duties as a great educator.
This blog "Teacher Till The End", reminds me of my big responsibilities as an educator. It is really in my hands the future of my learners. I can make them or break them. That's why I will always make it a habit to be guided by others experiences for me to be the best educator as possible. I will keep on my belief that "I can make a big impact in my learners'lives".
Thank You Dr. Joseline for this blog. I am blessed to be your student. Thank you for always challenging us to do our best as educator. Your words will always be in our hearts and minds. Good Job!

Educators frequently share that teaching is the most difficult job that anyone can have—and the most rewarding.
Teachers are our nation builders—the strength of every profession in our country grows out of the knowledge and skills that teachers help to instill in our children.
Teaching has never been easy, and it never will be. It takes heart, commitment and passion. But for all the very real challenges, I am so optimistic about where we are going. Why? Because of the teachers who are entering the field and who are in the field now who will lead the way. They will shape the state of this profession—and the future prospects of our children.
Your blog inspire me to become more efficient and effective teacher. Thank you for sharing your ideas and knowledge.

TumugonBurahinYou would not last in the pedagogy if you do not possess it, the ever fueling ENTHUSIASM. Being a teacher is not about the salary, but of course it is our occupation. A real teacher who knows the real basics of being a teacher visualizes the teaching to be not a career, but a vocation. I do agree Doc. Josie that the life of a teacher shall be committed not only when you're inside the four corners of the classroom, but anywhere you go. You are the mother of the 50 plus learners which you always think of anything to make them learn even biologically you are not linked with one another. A teacher's profession is extended in all place s/he would go. If you are a teacher you must not be seen in a bar barely sober, unlike a doctor. If you are a teacher, you must not be seen on the street wearing a skirt, or topless for men because people would criticize you "teacher ba yan?", unlike the engineers who show his bench body to mesmerize girls. If you are a teacher, you must be careful of the words you are going to utter, it could be as sharp as the katana to hurt people, unlike the other profession. And lastly, we are obliged to give the 10% percent of our tax every month because it was automatically charged in our salary, unlike the doctors and any other professions. Yes it’s funny to see the paradoxical things in our profession. Apparently, we are one of the nation builders because without our profession, there will be no other youth with professions who would be trained. Yet our salary rarely suffices the commodities in our lives. I do believe that youth are not the hope of our country alone, but the teachers. Without teachers youth would not be trained. They wouldn't even realize that they are the hope. Life is not about materials you possess, it is all about the things cannot be touched that you have done.
TumugonBurahinI still remember the days when I was at 3rd Grade, my teacher hit me hard with a thick old book she was holding just because I was selling a sticker to have my allowance without asking the reason behind it. And a teacher who told me in front of the class that I was not too good to smell, "Amoy luga ka, maligo ka" then my classmates shouted and laughed. And my High School teacher who really loved to utter cuss words like it was normal for her to do and ever degraded and discouraged us every single day of the whole year just because we are not the star section. We, as teachers are not the same. Like Doc. Josie said, all we need to know are the real basics of teaching, which are actually basic ones because of the serious covenant we have together with the child, his family and the nation. A teacher means heroic acts. In the eyes of students, as we preach them or scold them, they always hate us, they always talk bad about us when we are not around or inside their mind. They even give epithet to us! Maam buddha, Maam Yemma, Maam ipis, Sir Tigang, Sir misa, Sir AAT (Ang Aking Talambuhay), and even more! But we, teachers should not stop doing the passionate acts just because of this things. If we wanted our lives, the food we eat, the electricity we consume and the efforts our heroes done to us, BE AN EDUCATOR. We are the molder of the hope. Without us there will be no hope. I would like to ask you as well as Doc. Josie, Is teaching fun? It can be, it cannot. Teachers like us should not look for feed backs of the good deeds we made for them there are times often we are criticized.
But one thing is for sure. Once a teacher, forever a teacher.
Do not stop believing and dreaming. Thank you for inspiring us. You are the fuel of our enthusiasm doc. Josie. An Educator is the best profession, not anything else!

This time now that I am teacher already for almost a decade I realized teaching is not just only a profession...it's something na naguumapaw sa heart mo na hindi ka lang basta nagtuturo'but you are doing something na may passion. May eagerness sa puso mo na hindi lilipas ang araw na walang matututunan sayo ang mga bata...As years passed I have learned na maging joyful ka sa bawat ginagawa mo. Even if the task as a teacher is quite mahirap talaga...I'm sure you all know what I'm saying. Very challenging ang magturo cause you are molding the next generation na susunod sa yapak natin.
All I can say is "Walang mahirap na gawain, kung masaya ka sa ginagawa mo"...and that's the fact na you need to be careful in everything you do. I mean is'no one is perfect, but everyone must realize that WHAT WE SOW,IS WHAT WE REAP.

This blog really inspire me. I’ve been teaching for almost three years and obviously I have to learn more about teaching. I am also in the process of “PAKIKISAMA”. It really takes effort, patience and strong determination. I still remember my first year in Public School, I encountered those people who always stare at me from head to toe. That’s really irritating, at first it really matters to me but I realized that I teach not just to impress them but because it is my passion. I don’t let them bring me down. I just pray.
As year goes by I realized that teaching is not just imparting knowledge to my pupils. It is more obvious than inspiring, motivating, and forming relationships. As a teacher, I’ve learned a lot from my experiences in teaching. Every year has it challenges and sometimes I can get wrapped up in the moment and feel the stress of my job as a teacher. I know that stress is inherent but when things get tough I want to take the time to appreciate all that I have. In spite of every task that has been given me I am absolutely loving my job. I am proud and humble to work and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead. I decided to continue my study in master’s degree. My goal is to finish my study not just to earn units and for promotion but for my own growth and I will do my level best so I can be more self-regulated, self-motivated, self-determined with high self-efficacy and no more procrastination.
Thank you Ma’am for sharing your blog. Godbless you more!

This part of the blog inspires me, "Create a positive difference in everything we do.". Ten years ago, I was hired as a preschool teacher at MSM. As a newly graduate I grabbed the opportunity although it was not what I practiced since I took up BSED. The school provided a month of training but I knew then it wasn't enough. I learned nursery songs and rhymes, poems, games, even story telling. At first it was really hard, especially with kids. My mind is always set that I can make or break a child because this is their formative year. Preschool is the foundation of their education. Years passed I am still at MSM which I considered my second home. Teaching may be hard at times but you will see the brighter side if you give your heart in everything you do. The lessons in their notes may fade but in their hearts, we teachers will stay.
Thank you Ma'am Joy for inspiring us.

TumugonBurahinThe posted blog motivated me to reflect and ask myself, as a classroom teacher for so many years, am I doing the real basic? In doing the real basic, in some aspects, the answer is …yes and in some aspect the answer is no.
As a classroom teacher who loves teaching, I always think of myself as a bridge, wherein I invite them to cross the bridge, facilitate my learners to think, engage the minds, I listen to their questions, encourage them to take a risk in making decisions and I support, cultivate their dreams and encourage them to create bridges of their own. Still there are some forces or instances that made me weak on that visions that made me neglect the real basic.
As what the blog stated, as a teacher, I need to put on my head that everything must start within me and keep the faith that if all teachers possess commitment and values, our students and colleagues will imbibe them. In addition, we need to create a positive difference in everything that we do, we are the managers of the world greatest resource; the children.

“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops” – Henry Brooks Adams
A teacher’s role is not merely about teaching the subject matter in the four corners of the classroom. It is about touching the lives of your students that they will remember through the rest of their lives. It is about their life experiences, enthusiasm, and commitment to their own learning. Students might forget the lessons you’ve taught to them but they will never forget how you influenced, inspired and changed their lives as an individual.
Moreover, I agree with the statement “Teaching is more than a career”. At first I only want to earn money, to get a better salary, to be promoted in order to sustain my basic necessities but at the end of the day I came up with a realization that teaching is life and I am here for a purpose and it is a calling. This blog also mentions these three things for us, teachers, to remember: First, develop a sense of commitment to the profession. As I mentioned earlier, teaching is not a career but a calling. You have to give your life to it. As a young professional, I have to do all my obligations and responsibilities and perform as a genuine professional. Second, empathy with students. Teachers must be sensitive enough towards our students’ feelings because most of them are sensitive. We need to boost students’ elf-esteem to show enthusiasm towards learning. Third, cordial relations with the colleagues. Colleagues are always grouped into three: those who will challenge you, those who will help you and those who won’t mind your existence. Meeting these group of people will definitely give a great impact to improve yourself. The experiences that these people might give to you has something to do with your improvement. As what my co-teacher said “Hindi ka teacher ‘pag di mo naranasan yan” (referring to the difficulties and the gaps which I experienced with my colleagues).
But then, always possess good values as what this blog says “personal character must also be visible along the teaching”. So always be a teacher with a heart.
Andre Rose Sf. Santos
TumugonBurahinWhat I liked best about this article is that it best describes what I feel as a teacher. Having spent 10 yrs in the service, I am proud to say that I had cultivated within me the same commitment and values as expressed above. As a matter of fact, right now, my goal is to develop the real basics among my colleagues. And I'm glad that I've already have 10 colleagues who shared with me the same commitment and values.
Looking back, when I took the BSE as my baccalaureate degree, my aim is to prove only to my aunt that I can be a teacher. I really don't have the passion to teach. However, when I was already exposed to the field, the sense of commitment and the passion soon developed in me. My goal didn't just focus on delivering my lesson, but also in ensuring that each and every students experience learning. It's not just about filling their minds with ideaa but also touching their hearts and lives. Just like the author, there were times when I was cooking and at the same time thinking of the procedure of my lesson. I don't settle with the materials provided by the school or the division, I make my own instructional materials that will suit the needs of my learners. I ensure that in everything I do as a teacher, the 3H is always there...head, heart and hand.
This blog is a good read for new teachers in the field. It gives a glimpse of what to expect for the neophytes in educating the young Filipinos. I agree that developing a sense of commitment is the first step in the teaching profession. With a positive sense of commitment, any work load will be easier. Everything can be a learning experience and improve to be better at our profession. Another important thing is not develop empathy to students. I believe that we have to teach with a heart of a mother. With competent and committed teachers paired with the heart of a teacher means a better way of educating the students. With the empathy of the teachers, they will find ways on how to deliver education to the students with special needs. Lastly, our colleagues can mentor us in the field. The experience and wisdom of the seasoned teachers are the best information in the field. I just wanted to add that as teachers, we have to be open for the coming changes for better ways of facilitating learning in the classroom.

As I read this, my desire to learn more and be a better teacher is like a burning ball of fire found in the vast cosmos. Yes! Being a teacher is a very tough job. It’s more like of being a parent in your single age where you will be dealing with a great number of students with different personalities. As a new teacher (2 and ½ years in teaching), I may say I have a lot of things to learn and discover for myself and to myself. It is not an easy job. It will consume your patience. It will test your capacity and capability. It will measure your strength. It will drain your energy. But at the end of the day, with all the hardships, seeing your students learn is the most precious gift you may have. Reading this makes me reminisce of a person that I truly idolize, the late Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago. She said that, “A true teachers does not terrorize ignorant students, because a true teacher knows that it is his job to cure ignorance’’. It is indeed teachers are not terrorist but somewhat like a doctor that cure the ignorance among students. But to completely cure this problem of ignorance, a teachers must show empathy to his or her student. I remember my critic teacher when I was still a student teacher and she said, “Hindi yan susunod sayo kung sisisgawan sila at ipapahiya. Minsan labas mo rin yun other side mo. That is my technique nak to capture their attention’’. That is why, when I graduated and be hired, I always put in my mind that there is nothing wrong of showing your soft-kinded side for your students. And I found effective to my first advisory class and other classes. And since we belong to an academe, we will be dealing also with other teachers who will be our friends and our helpers in times we need their help. We should also consider the term Pakikisama that is the key for a harmonious environment inside a faculty room.
Like what you have said on your blog Ma’am, “Developing a sense of commitment is knowing the teacher’s obligation to the profession. Once we enter in this course, after the series of activities and practices done inside the classroom and up to practice teaching, we have to embrace everything attached to it.’’ There is no turning back once you chose to be part of education world. Once a teacher will always be a teacher. We accepted the job so we have to prove that we can be a transformers and molders of the young generation.
Being an educator is not an easy job. It takes an unlimited patience, ultimate hardwork and great amount of effort to give your best among your students. They may say that teaching is like a basic concept being taught inside the room. But these basic are the hardest part to learn immediately for it is the foundation to have a good relationship with your student and your co-workers inside a school.

It is not an exaggeration to say that a great teacher can change a student’s life. There are an endless amount of stories that attest to the benefits of a strong relationship between an educator and pupil.
As some of the most influential role models for developing students, teachers are responsible for more than just academic enrichment. If you want to be a great educator, you must connect with your pupils and reach them on multiple levels, because the best teachers are committed to their students’ well-being both inside and outside the classroom. By forging strong relationships, educators are able to affect virtually every aspect of their students’ lives, teaching them the important life lessons that will help them succeed beyond term papers and standardized tests.
It is not always easy to change a student’s life, which is why it takes a great teacher to do so. Some just need an extra push like the student whose math grade is just a few points shy from the A that will give them a high grade; others may be going through something troubling in their personal lives and need someone to talk to. Whatever the student needs to help them excel, a life-changing teacher will be there for them

TumugonBurahinReading your personal experience as a teacher made me appreciate more how noble my profession is. With all the tasks given by us, I sometimes forget what my real purpose of being a teacher. I usually think on how to deliver my lesson, what strategy will I use, how will I accomplish our projects as the Supreme Student Government adviser, how will I meet the deadlines, thinking on how will I make my students learn etc. I almost forgot my real mission and essence of being a teacher. After reading your article about teaching, I must say that I agree and I consider those three things that matters most in the life of being a teacher. First, developing a sense of COMMITMENT, simply says STOP complaining, life is a choice and we chose to be a teacher, then BE A TEACHER! Second, EMPHATY, stop thinking how we can make our students learn, but how to help them how to learn. Let us love them as if they are our own children. Last, CORDIAL relations with the colleagues, treat our colleagues as our brothers and sisters. We may differ from each other but we are all teachers. Thank you Ma’am for reminding me that being a teacher is more than a bread and butter, but it is a bacon too. I mean, to be a teacher is a very rewarding profession too. After reading your article, a lot of things run in my mind. The message of the blog for me is both inspiring and quite challenging.
Challenging because teaching students is not easy as 1 2 3, it requires many crucial things to educate them the learning they intend to learn. First, you must be a model of good and moral values in spite of our imperfections which all people especially your students are looking onto you every time and everywhere, a replica of motivator and inspiration in life in spite of the problems you are facing in your own family and personal matter, you must always talk of encouragement and motivation for your students to understand the real basics of education; and lastly you must be also a keen observer which talks about empathy. As educator, it is true that you may first learn the sense of empathy in which you were always need to sensible in all the feelings of the people you are dealing with. Every day we are dealing with individuals with different characters which also possess different skills and capabilities.
Inspiring since it reflects all the realities that define the teaching profession. It is good to feel if you think after a day you were able to contribute something on your students’ life to make them better and productive young men someday. Whatever their success is more than success for us teachers. If you have the passion in what you are doing you can be simply do things without asking something in return.
Thus, it is definitely true, teaching is not an idea of having a career but it talks about far more than it, it is a tough responsibility and vocation to nurture the mind and influence young people to be a productive individual in the society. But of all, I don’t give up but instead to continue and love what I am doing for my students. Proud to be ONE.

A Teacher is never a giver of truth; He is a guide, a pointer to the truth that each student must find for himself.
This blog made me rethink of my important role as an educator. As teacher we are experiencing the joy of making a difference in seeing our students gain new insights. We as teacher mold the future through impacting our students view and understanding. As teachers we can do something to change our students’ lives and to help them to choose a better path in life.
We, as teachers have the greatest influence on our students because they spend more time with us than at home. More importantly, this blog made me realize that beyond the four corners of the classroom, we teachers can be an instrument for them to see the reality of life that they may experience in the future.
Thus, teaching is nobility, commitment, and dedication. Moreover, the blog would like to remind future educators to develop these characteristics to be able to become an effective teacher.
In return to impart students that values education is still the best education we can give them. Indeed, the most powerful weapon they can use to face the world.

This statement challenges me so much. It made me feel excited and at the same time nervous. Can I really make a difference? Can I handle the pressure and responsibilities of being teacher?
I am now on my 3rd year of service as a teacher, and at this point in time I realized a lot of things and experiences that is helping me to become a better version of myself. Indeed teaching is a noblest profession. Teachers have a great power to make a positive impact on their students, impact that can last a lifetime. A good teacher teaches from the book and set a high standards but the best teacher will motivate his/her students to meet those standards. Teachers also serve as role models. Teachers make a contribution to society by preparing students for their real world endeavors. They teach students through example to be kind, respectful, humble, patient and determined. And that is the real role of a teacher, to teach minds and touch each student’s hearts. You will only know your worth when you see the growth of your students. And with these, I can say that somehow, in my 3rd year of teaching, I was able to touch the lives of my students. Indeed, the rewarding part of being a teacher is when your students appreciate you with the things that you taught them.
This blog also made me realized how lucky I am on the institution/community that I am with at this moment. A community that gives importance to its workers/teachers. Many people are asking “Bakit hindi kapa lumipat sa public? Mas mataas ang sweldo dun.” I am being used to that question every day. And my answer will always be, “Hindi ko sila maiwan. I am still enjoying my work and happy with my colleagues.” Most of them belong “to those who will help you” group and I am blessed with that. But still, there are also those groups of “those who will challenge you” and “those who won’t mind your existence” (Let’s admit it, we can’t avoid that). And indeed, those are just secondary. More than the people, things, or salary that we have or that we are receiving, the main reason why I am still choosing to stay is the formation that the administration is giving us, different ways of helping us for us to be the best that we can be. And that is the most important thing for me – to improve, for me to become “the best” teacher with my students. And I can proudly say that, this is where my heart belongs!
I thank you, ma’am. For reminding us with the things that we need to consider and do as a teacher for the benefit of our students. God bless and Namaste! :)))

Education is considered as the most powerful weapon of life to get victory and success. This great responsibility and job is given to the teachers to nourish and shape up the lives of young ones and future of their country. We, teachers, have the very important responsibility of shaping the lives of students through our knowledge, patience, love and care. And while the profession we have chosen is vital for the transfer of knowledge, we will also play an important role in the life of our students, the significance of which we may never know...

This blog is very helpful for all the teachers in the profession. While reading this blog I learned a lot of things and I realized that being a teacher have the very important responsibility of shaping the lives of the young generations. I agree that when I’m also a new teacher I do the best that I can be to please my co-teachers and principal but this blog reminding me that we need to focus to the three things THE REAL BASICS (1) sense of commitment to the profession, (2) empathy with students, and (3) cordial relations with the colleagues. If all teachers doing this having commitment and values to his/her profession. We will produce a holistically learners in the 21st century.

The blog, A Teacher Till the End is an inspirational article written by a teacher and for the teacher. Its message is coming straight from the heart of a writer whose passion perhaps is to share the God-given gifts. It depicts about the pros and cons of teaching as a profession as well as the ups and downs in the life of a teacher. Its subtitle, REAL BASICS is good enough to give an overview of the content. The influence of a teacher in the educational system, the real-life situations and the reality of being a teacher are clearly showcased in the blog. It is also evident that the author is a teacher with a rich teaching experience. It makes the reader feel how great it is to be a teacher, how great is our former teachers since day1 in school and how great is our Greatest Teacher- God our divine source of wisdom. The author emphasized the important points like commitment and values. For her success, I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate and thank Dr. Joseline M. Santos!

We are now in a world where the parameter of success is by how much money you earn. But, after reading this blog, I realized that there is a thin line between a successful individual and a successful teacher. The success of an individual is hugely measured in terms how big the salary is. The better you perform, the higher you go and therefore the more money you get. On other hand, the success of a teacher can never be measured in terms of salary because in the first place teachers (in the Philippines) are the most underpaid professionals. Moreover, the success of a teacher depends on the success of their students. The success of a teacher is not just limited in helping their students to achieve their level best but more so in providing them the right amount of scaffolding to even achieve the optimum level of learning. Hence, a teacher is truly successful when you see your students become successful in life because you’re able to tell them that success is likely to happen with the right combination of intelligence, ability and effort. And to achieve such success, this blog is absolutely right that a successful teacher must possess these three things: (1) sense of commitment to the profession, (2) empathy with students, and (3) cordial relations with the colleagues.
Additionally, people who think that teaching is the simplest and easiest job will often say, “If I can’t be anything else, I’ll become a teacher.” But in my own point of view, it’s a complete opposite. I always believe that teaching is the hardest job in the world and I would like to share this metaphor I used in my conceptualization of teaching and how difficult it is…
“Teaching is Farming. The farmer signifies teacher. As a teacher, I am farmer who will invest blood, tears and sweat in patiently doing an arduous job. I am a farmer who will devote hours and hours each day to prepare for my class and to cultivate the minds and the hearts of my students prior to planting the seeds of knowledge in them. A farmer keeps the plant free from weeds and will provide the seed enough supply of water to make sure that it will turn into a flourishing plant. Similarly, as teacher, I will provide my students enough guidance, fertilize them with my experience and watch them grow until they are ready for harvest. Ultimately, I will do everything that I can to make sure that the seed of knowledge I plant today will blossom tomorrow.”

This blog reminds me that i am not alone in this sometimes stress-inducing duty. Being a classroom teacher for 10 years, I gradually came to understand that the role of a teacher is not only to instill knowledge, letting the students to understand the subject matter and trying to achieved at least 75% MPS in test results, its more on GUIDING the next generations to the right path, MOLDING them and PREPARING them to become not only skilled but GOOD CITIZENS. Teaching is more on moral responsibility, not only for students, but also in building relationships with colleagues.

Through this blog I've come to realize that being a teacher I should always remember the real basics: (1)develop a sense of commitment to the profession, (2)empathy with students, and (3)cordial relationship with my colleagues. I've been in the service for almost three years and I had been experienced them already. Its true that real basics really matters in this profession. Its impossible for a teacher to successfully survive this field for a long time if he or she don't have these three things that a teacher should possess.
As a teacher we are expected to teach but we should be committed in our profession. We should have the heart and a burning passion in teaching. As a second parent to pupils teachers should be understanding and be very careful with pupils feelings. We should also give them the love they need for it is the thing they are longing to feel.
Without this kids we won't be able to survive in this field, so we should treasure them like gems. And of course in every job or profession "pakikisama" is really important to build a good atmosphere and harmonious relationship between your co-workers and colleagues.
Thank you ma'am for sharing your thoughts and experiences to us regarding the real basics. This really inspires me to become a better teacher, most especially in guiding us to the right path as we continue with our journey as a teacher.

TumugonBurahinMy role as a teacher is to help students apply concepts, such as Math, English, and Science through classroom instruction and presentations. Also, to prepare lessons, grade papers, manage the classroom, meet with parents, and work closely with school staff. Being a teacher is much more than just executing lesson plans, in today's world a teacher's role is a multifaceted profession; teachers carry the role of a surrogate parent, class disciplinarian, mentor, counselor, book keeper, role model, planner and many more. Teach with a heart, teach passionately. The REAL BASICS of a teacher!

My Cooperating Teacher said this quotation during my practice teaching days. “A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.” – Unknown. When somebody asked me what is my profession I’m proudly say to him/her that I am a teacher and they asked again why teacher? So, why teacher? Why teaching? For me, teaching is a selfish profession and teachers are selfless individuals. Being a teacher is a profession that consumes not only our mind but also our body, soul, emotions, time, and love life, a profession that last through lifetime, and also, a profession that can make change. I’m glad I’ve read a blog like this, for sharing the Real Basics in teaching, thank you.
My two years’ experience as a teacher is not an easy one but a fun and challenging experience. New students, new colleagues, new environment. Teaching nine subjects in four year levels (Grade 4, 5, 6, and 8) is not an easy task. Preparation for every subject and execution of every lesson is the deadly and hardest part. We teachers must know our lesson by text and by heart, knows how to simplify the hardest one, knows our students strengths and weaknesses, and knows our part as a faculty to our school.
We teachers are the shaper and molder of the globally competitive students. We prepare them for the future, for the real world situation. Teachers bring a big impact to the lives of the students. We can be their friend, a sister, mentor; we often called ourselves as “second parent” of the students, so why let them down? We must give them the better of our best and make the experience develop self-confidence and potential. For now, I keep my cape at my drawer but I’m promised to myself that when I go back to the teaching world I will do my very best, my own version of Teacher 2.0 with the guide of The Real Basics on my side.
This blog was a reminder of the importance of our commitment as educators in the teaching profession.
TumugonBurahinTeaching seems to be an ordinary job these days for other people but for us teachers, our lives revolve around it. It may not be as grand as the other professions but truly it is the most inspiring. Not everybody has the capability to touch eternity and form the future generation that’s why I feel blessed that God has granted me this gift. Teaching is not as easy as it may seems that’s why we should keep ourselves updated with the latest trends which may help us be better bearers of knowledge for our pupils. As what St. Marie Eugenie of Jesus once said, "Love never says I have done enough.” As teachers we should never get tired of seeking for avenues where we can grow personally and professionally. We should give our whole self to carry out all that there is in this profession we chose like dealing with people from all walks of life and accomplishing the paperwork. We should keep our passion for teaching burning and our values intact for these should keep us to love our profession more and more. It is indeed a lifelong commitment for once you've touch the life of a child, you also touch eternity for what we have imparted to them will last a lifetime.

TumugonBurahinI strongly agree with the realities being experienced and expressed in this blog by an Educator .Hence this also encapsulate a general view on what an Educator goes through in the entire period that s/he tries to be in the system of education. As what A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, "Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, caliber, and future of an individual. If the people remember me as a good teacher, that will be the biggest honour for me." but sometimes due to a lot of predicaments in life we often to look at this profession as a job, just a job!which apparently leads us to a more toxicated experiences resulting to stress or even frustration.
For the past years that I am in the System of education I've seen alot of the same delemas as what is being mentioned in this blog. It really takes time, mind and a heart for someone to stick into this noble profession. Appreciation on what you do, acceptance and realization about the realities that is at hand in your job must be embraced , other positive attitudes must implied to get along with it especially to our main clients which are the learners, and most especially NEVER FORGET TO LOOK, TO GO, TO DO , the REAL BASICS.
Its nice to be reminded of what is a teacher, what should a teacher be, and how should a teacher act. :)

Honestly speaking, I never planned this profession. Being a teacher is not my dream. But since my parents do not afford my desired course, which engineering, so I decided to take Education as my course. Well, at first it is hard for me in doing paper works for education student. But then, I pursue to finish the course.
I remember when I was in field of study or practice teaching. My cooperating teacher always gives some advice on how to handle the student’s behavior. And when I was inside the room, I always think of what should do in facing different behavior. I always assure that I apply all advice of my cooperating teacher, just to impress her.
Now, I was in the field of teaching for almost 4 years. I know my understanding in student’s behavior is not yet enough. Also my teaching strategies are not enough to cater the diversity of the students. As a teacher, I must assure that I am full of creativity on how to handle the students. It is very important that, I should not stop in learn new things to improve my teaching style and strategies. I will obtain those needs of the students on attending seminar, workshop and or even to my colleagues. And also I have to involve myself in catering the student’s behaviour to have enough experience in how to handle those behaviors.
We as a teachers, we must never let our dignity as a teacher be measure by our payslip. We have to make sure that we will do our job because of passion and eagerness to help the young minds to learn something new. And remember we must secure the future of students towards betterment.

TumugonBurahinIn so many points integrated within this post, I find them relatable for it tackles the bona fide rudiments of teaching that are gradually thrown to oblivion.
It is really veritable that having the mastery of the subjects we are teaching is an immense prerequisite; however, that alone is not suffice, as a teacher, we must also exude an acumen of empathy and personal values. Also, we must learn how to appease the grievances of our students to further bolster their progress towards effective learning. Our role as a teacher does not halt upon vacating the school’s premises – a teacher’s duty is incessant and painstaking – this is to intricately prepare our students as the future adults of this society. We must ceaselessly devise strategies to hone their skills, and proliferate and invigorate the dormant aptitude inherent within them.
The workplace we are in houses several colleagues mostly of the same profession and each one of us has our own peculiarity. Some of them may appear tactless and boorish but we must still learn how to be flexible at any circumstance to easily adapt in our environment. We, as a teacher, must also establish an affable and good rapport amongst individuals in our workplace - our personal values in life matter.
However, despite all that have been stated, we, ourselves, encounter strife and difficulties – may it be induced by our ruthless superiors or our family; but, still, our duty as a teacher comes first for it is genuinely paramount and imperative. To be able to do all these, we must develop and nurture a substantial amount of commitment in our profession and see it as our most earnest passion.

“The best thing about a teacher is that it matters. The hardest thing being a teacher is that it matters everyday – Todd Whitaker
I agree with your statements Mam Joseline about mastering the real basics. In accordance with what I wrote above, being a teacher is a noble profession and I think that is the best description that we can receive, because it means that we are on top of all professions in this world. In your article the first thing that we should master is the “commitment to the profession”, the word “commitment” itself is really a big word that comes with great responsibility. Again in line with the passage above, “the hardest thing being a teacher is that it matters everyday”. Inside or outside the room, every day and every time, we have to act, talk and think still like a teacher. Why? Because wherever we go and whatever we do we are teachers. We are the role models of our students. That’s why we have lots of dos and don’ts, from head to toe; we have to wear and dress properly and be presentable. Whatever the situation, we have to act professionally. I must say that being a teacher is a very tough and challenging profession but an honorable one and something that you can be proud of.
Next is empathy to students, we teachers are tend to be close to the hearts of our students, they even believe more whatever we say than their own parents. According to Johann Wolfgang, “instruction does much, but encouragement does everything”. As part of empathy, we have to motivate our students to learn and enjoy learning not to frustrate them. We have to make them believe that education is important and discover their own inner talents and skills.
The third but not the least is cordial relations with the colleagues. Yes “Pakikisama” is necessary, we need to have a professional and harmonious relationship to our work mates. I also agree with you mam about mastering the real basics first. I really appreciate your article mam, it inspires me too. I learned a lot as a teacher and as a person. I’m looking forward on your future articles.

With this blog, I remembered the first 3 years of my teaching career in public school where I was once a municipally funded teacher. I am earning only half of the salary of a permanent teacher in the public school but it doesn’t made me back out on my profession, instead it encouraged me to continue my career as a teacher.
Teaching is the most difficult job that anyone can have – and the most rewarding. Difficult? Even if we are at home doing household chores, doing the laundry or spending time with our family, still there’s a part on our mind that we think about our lessons the next day and sometimes even the personal problems of our students is also our problem. Teaching has never been easy, and it will never be. It takes heart, commitment and passion. But for all the very real challenges, I am so optimistic about where we are going. Why? Because of the teachers who are entering the field and those who are in the field now will lead them the right way. Rewarding? There is nothing more rewarding than knowing and seeing the evidence that we’ve made an impact on someone’s life or multiple lives. As teachers, we should not seek for rewards and praise. Sometimes, we cannot physically see the appreciation and impact we’ve made but just know that it’s there. We also inspire our students as their model. We do not only provide instruction/ lesson to our students in our subject but we also stand as an additional source of encouragement in their lives.
Thank you ma’am for sharing your thoughts and experiences because now I know that I made the right decision.

After reading this blog I realized a lot of things as a teacher. The real basics are not the subjects you have to take during the undergraduate years as a would be teacher, its not about earning credentials in the field, and not about the content of what you teach. The basics of being a teacher is being a "vicar of goodness and excellence" in a world full of mediocrity. The basics of being a teacher does not boil down to academic degrees and high honor distinction but rather a sense of professionalism. A professional in the world place and a professional accountable for the future of this generation. Teachers need not only intelligence but the burning passion to be the agents of change. The source of hope, the models of morality and the very person to have courage and kindness in a world full of cruelty, hunger, injustice and poverty.

I must say that frustration with your students may come it but we must do something not to burn out with our profession.

In this profession you need to embrace it and be passionate on what you are doing because its not about earning money its about how you want to mold the next generation the right way it should be.It's been almost 17 years 'am into this profession but I always ask my self "Bakit hanggang ngayon sa kabila ng tagal ko na sa pagtuturo gustong gusto ko pa din ito? bakit sa kabila ng kakulangan ng maraming kagamitan sa pagtuturo lalo nasa pampublikong paaralan marami pa din tayong guro na kumakapit at pilit na kinakaya ang lahat ng hamon na ating pagtuturo? sa kabila ng ating patang katawan pilit pa din tayong bumabangon para sa ating mga mag-aaral ? mga katanungan na madalas kong naitatanong sa aking sarili pero sa huli ang maiiwan na sagot ay masaya ako sa ginagawa ko at masarap sa pakiramdam ang makabahagi ka ng kaalaman, karunungan, pagtuturo ng tamang - asal sa iyong mga mag-aaral yun lang pawi na lahat ng kinakaharap sa pagtuturo . I must say that frustration with your students may come it but we must do something not to burn out with our profession. Co-workers also affects our work but we must see them as a partner in educating the youth. We must try to learn in every classroom situation and by that we can make a difference. The title Real Basic is perfect for this blog because as the days, years past by you will back into the basic question why you want to become a teacher and whatever answer you may come out you need to come back with the basic which is.... TEACHING is the BEST THING about being a TEACHER is that it MATTERS.... The HARDEST THING about BEING a TEACHER is that it MATTERS EVERYDAY. THANK GOD 'am a TEACHER because I know despites of different struggles in TEACHING I must say that WE TEACHERS are one of the BIGGEST WEAPON of our SOCIETY to A BETTER CHANGE ......

This is a mind opener and a reminder to all educational leaders that “making a difference” is the real basics of our calling -–teaching the unlearned to learn new things that will turn the world upside down and developing agents of change to transform the corrupt society. How can it be? As you mentioned, “everything must start from within.” The Bible says in Romans 12:2, “…that you be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” If all of us, who are the most privileged persons of molding lives, will grab this opportunity by doing the best of our ability and not following the corrupt pattern of this world, responsible student-citizen will be the outcome of our endeavor. Remember, we are not just teaching but we are touching lives, imparting our own lives.
Mentoring program needed for novice teachers caught my attention as head of the school. They stay with you if they are paid well and mentored. Let me add that building a good relationship with them glued them to you. The love and concern once demonstrated and felt bind us together and happily perform our duties. I believe this also makes a difference that every school administrator should remember.
Ma’am, thanks for bringing us back into the real basics.

It's a good reading material for all educators; it gives us time to reflect on how we're doing as a teacher, and to weigh things up. Sometimes, teaching can be so exhausting and frustrating that some of us tend to become a mediocre teacher. Blogs like this boosts our confidence back.
For me, the best part of your blog was your advice to the future educators: commitment to the profession, empathy with students and cordial relations with the colleagues. Allow me to expand them.
1. Commitment to the professions - Well, our profession is way different from other professions. There are people whose jobs end when they leave their offices or working places; ours is different - WE ARE TEACHERS 24/7. We make lesson plans on weekends, we squeeze our heads out (whenever there's a chance to do it - yes, even in the toilet..haha) just to come up with a very dynamic and engaging activities, and we also bring our paper works at home (most of the time) not because we're poor in time management but it's because we had to pacify a student who needs someone to talk to or home visit a student who does not come to school regularly. I believe that things like these are more important than checking papers.
2. Empathy with students – I really like this statement of yours “Students see hope in us, let us not fail them”. I admit that there are students who really get to my nerves. Whenever I feel like I’m about to burst, this is what I always remind myself - “EVERY OBNOXIOUS ACT IS A CRY FOR HELP” (Gary Chapman). There are students who seem like they’re just testing your patience but what actually they’re doing is – they are telling you to give them your attention. These students are those who need a little pep talk or conversations about life, their interests and frustrations. They want us to fill their emotional tank. When a student feels loved or accepted, he/she is easier to discipline and train than when his/her emotional tank is running near empty. We must fill our student’s emotional tanks for them to operate as they should and reach their potential.
3. Cordial relation with the colleagues – Since we are working in one place, we have no choice but to deal with each other. I’ve been teaching for 18years and dealing with colleagues is a no-brainer. The key to a peaceful relationship is RESPECT. Each one of us is unique. We have different personalities. Our likes and dislikes differ. So, let us respect each other’s differences.
I realized that being a teacher is incomparable. As we care for our student, we learn how to cover our sorrow with a smile. We learn how to stay vigorous despite all the tasks we endure and we learn how to give hope knowing that God is in control.
Indeed, nobody would know what kind of life a teacher has – unless they become one.
The Real Basics
TumugonBurahinIt’s such an inspiring message to the teachers who always actively involved in school improvement plan like how to help the less fortunate children in the school. An eye opener for the newly hired teachers and serve as the right avenue for the rookie. It is true the teachers set the tone for the classroom. If the classroom climate encourages participation and risk taking, students are more likely to become involved in the learning process. Teachers should use a nurturing approach and invest in each student on an individual basis. Group projects can serve as a vehicle to build a collaborative environment that invites a team-centric learning environment. That lead students sense of success, they are more likely to conform to classroom guidelines and specific behavioral goals.
For education in school to be effective, the environment needs to be conducive to learning, allowing the pupils space and time to interact within the learning and teaching process. Creating and maintaining stimulating learning environments can be achieved through effective classroom organization, interactive and whole school displays, and a climate of innovation.
The best learning environment should have the following characteristics.
• The best learning environment is one of high challenge and low stress.
• Ritualized and patterned positive teacher behavior influences performance.
• Constant and varied exposure to new material encourages quicker and deeper learning.
• Differentiated structure are necessary for effective individualized learning.
• Music can be used to improve recall as well as create the chosen learning environment.
• Incorporate a range of teaching strategies within planning.
• Ensure resources are appropriate, accessible, identifiable, and relevant to children’s learning needs.
• Environment should support pupils to become independent and active learners.
• Adopt a collaborative approach when planning for children’s needs.
• Good visual displays can improve recall and attention by up to 80%.
Equal opportunities form an integral part of the formal and informal curriculum.

“Teaching is a noble profession.” Cliché it may sound, but this saying is true. Our work/tasks as teachers are not easy. Even in our free time; we still use it in planning our lessons because we know that we have a calling from our Creator to mold the mind, skills and values of our students in the best way we can for this world to have better professionals in the near future.
Preparing lesson plan, test questionnaires, instructional materials, checking test papers and assignments are just few of the everyday tasks the teachers face. Indeed, it is really not easy to be a teacher. But, this blog motivated me to look at the other side of the coin. Being a teacher does not mean that you can no longer enjoy life. We just have to remember three things in order for us to be effective, efficient and at the same time, a happy and stress free teacher. According to this blog, first, we have to “develop a sense of commitment to the profession”. I realized that as a teacher, you do not have to be perfect and master everything. Just do what you have to do. Do not try to please everybody because that is not possible. Just always do your tasks the best way you can. Second, we have to show “empathy to the students”. I realized that though there are many of the students nowadays who are stubborn, disrespectful and lazy; I should still do my best to teach them. I should show empathy to them because we never know maybe the students are misbehaving inside the classroom because they are having problems at home. Instead of scolding them in front of the whole class, we should try to know more the students and talk to them and remind them without embarrassing them to others. Lastly, we have to build “cordial relations with the colleagues”. For my own opinion, this is important. “No man is an island.” We will be working with our colleagues until we reach the retirement age. So, we should have a good harmony with them for us to have a good and happy working environment. Just imagine; you will be working with each other for almost 20-40 years. For me, these three are the “REAL BASICS” in the field of teaching.
Teaching is a calling, a mission, not just an ordinary job. Having mastery of the subject matter that you are teaching is not enough. For me, a teacher can say that he/she truly fulfilled his mission or calling if he/she was able to touch the lives of the students and the students will remember him/her even outside the classroom and even years have passed. Having values, positive attitude and good character are important factors a teacher must have in order for him/her to be able to touch lives and mold students. "You cannot give what you do not have". How can a teacher mold the heart and minds of the students if he/she does not show kindness, respect and other good traits?

My professor once told a story about a teacher who attended their batch reunion. Allow me to share a little of it.
Once there is a teacher who attended their batch reunion. Everyone wore stunnning dresses while she was wearing her school uniform. When she was with her classmates, everyone keep on sharing their success. One of them said that he was one of the engineers who built the highest buildings in Makati. The other one told that she is the one who made the nose of the famous artist, definetly she's a surgeon. The other one said that he is earning more than the salary of their classmates by his own business, and many more shares their story of success. Then, the teacher finally told her story, she said, I don't have a big salary like yours, I don't even know how to build a building or even to perform surgery. All I have, is a student who become an engineer, a doctor, a businessman and more.
This story was really an eye opener, that we teachers can see our success from our students. A teacher is not the only person who teaches the subject but we are the person who inspires and mold students to become a somebody from being a nobody. It is not just a job but it is a commitment. We are the second parent of our students and our task doesn't end at the four corners of our room. I can't share same stories like, my students went back to me and telling me that he or she is now a professional because I'm just at the beggining of this career. I'm still at the process of mastering the REAL BASICS, but I know I'm half way there. At the end of the day as we lay on our bed, let' ask ourselves "what have I done?" Let's refresh, did I really know the REAL BASICS.

We all know that being a teacher is not an easy task it needs effort and perseverence not only for ourselves but also for our students. Much of what students learn from their greatest teachers is not detailed on a their lesson plan. Teacher play a vital role to every student's life. Teachers role is not only to teach the students but also to show the love, affection and care. teacher must be willing to hear the opions of his students. Let their Ideas be heard. Students learned best when we involved them.
Teachers who help his student grow as person are responsible for imparting some of life’s most important lessons. Every teacher should know that learning is not only focusing on the four corners of the classroom but also the outside world. One of our role as a teacher is that teacher should not only focused on the subject matter, but lessons in life.

Sabi nga nila Teachers are Flexible, Totoo.
Teaching is Challenging and rewarding.

Teaching is a noble profession! You will not get rich if you are just teaching, compared to doctors, lawyers, engineers, managers, accountants..
I am not yet into teaching but my daughter is now teaching in a private school. As I saw her doing her task in doing the lesson plan, prepare the materials needed for her class, preparing test questions and checking papers after the exam..I almost felt the hardship she's been going through. But she is not complaining because she loves what she's doing, she enjoyed every details of it.
This blog gives the detailed routine of every teacher and I would like to say that i salute all the teachers who are giving their 100% dedication for their work.
How I wish I will be doing the same in the next coming year. It is not because of money but I want to share the knowledge and talent that I acquire from my past experiences up to present.
Teaching is challenging and rewarding, it is an act of sharing the knowledge we have given to others with the hope that someday it will be passed on...

You stay in a place where you find happiness and support. In my first 2 years of actually teaching in a private school, I always have my ups and downs.
It is so fulfilling to finally be able to live a passion, live a life you wanted from the four years of undergraduate studies. But there's more to teaching than what it superficially is. Yes, as the writer says it, teaching is not a career. There is a different kind of compensation everytime a teacher will be looking at the faces of students, a face, a mind the teacher has to mold in order to have a better, brighter future. No career would do that, only a deep sense of passion will.
Also, in my two year of teaching, I would always think of the greener pasture. I think the writer is correct when she suggested a support system for new teachers so they won't go from one school to another, from one occupation to another from time to time. The blog is an opener to school administrators and a 'hello' to new teachers.
Kudos to the writer of the blog. Truly, the real basics won't all be taught in the curriculum of teacher education. Some of the basics are opt to be known on site.
Very informative! A must-read for teachers-to-be.
TumugonBurahinFor an education student, it is a sort of self-reflection on whether you are really ready to face the challenges of teaching.
Commitment in the vocation you have chosen. Yes. Teaching is a vocation. No amount of money could compensate with what a 'real teacher' is doing.
Once you have the commitment, the passion then you will do everything you can for your learners. And true, even in your free time, weekends, holidays, vacation... you are still thinking about your students. You are thinking of ways on how to help them learn. Aside from commitment and passion, empathy makes us human. Putting ourselves in the situation of our learners will help us understande them better.
Teaching, is not always a bed of roses. Sure you have the passion, you know how help your students, but you will not always get along with everybody. As much as you wanted to focus your energy in teaching, still these people around you; your colleagues and superior, will could either make or break you. Build good relations, but don't let them make you feel inferior. Do good deeds for negative people not because they deserve it, but because you have good manners than them.
For new teachers in the field, you will be disappointed, you will be frustrated.. but never give up. Always go back and remember why you chose to be a teacher.

"A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart"
After reading this blog I've realize that being a teacher we have A LOT of responsibilities. We are in charge of their mental growth, and also social growth. I agree in this statement, " Developing a sense of commitment is knowing the teacher’s obligation to the profession" because teaching is not only a profession but it is also a commitment that we should do this with love. We should face our students everyday with a smile in our lips and teach them to love learning and not hate it or be afraid to learn something new. Students/pupils have feelings too, they may be innocent in some things but they feel stress, frustrations and even anxiety. So instead of giving them punishments or using harsh words in talking to them, we should have empathy and understand their reason if they've done something that doesn't pleases you.
"The best teachers teach from the heart not from the book" This quote reminds me of my first year of teaching. When our coordinator called me and asked why I didn't finish the book (lahat ng lessons at exercises sa book) so I told her I only followed the curriculum guide from DepEd and use other references (kasi wala ang ibang topic sa textbook na ginagamit). This experience are the best examples that a best teacher teach from the heart and not relying totally from book. I'm not saying that I'm against using book, I understand that books are expensive (especially books in private schools) and parents need to see that the book they bought are really used and answered but to pressure you to finish the book no matter what happens, no matter if you've teach the lessons effectively to the students.
“Schools should provide a structured program for novice teachers through a mentoring program.” I can say that when it comes to trainings and seminars our school is willing to provide us these for our professional growth, and also spiritual growth since I’m currently teaching in a private catholic school. For three years, I have my ups and downs in teaching, there are times that I’m having self-doubt and asking myself, “is teaching really for me? Should I change my profession? Or should I move to other institutions/to public?” but because of my family, my students, and to the institution that I’m in that gives importance to us (workers/teachers). I can say that I’m lucky that I’m working in this school, they won’t hesitate to give the incentives, bonuses and considerations that their employees deserve. Maybe that is one of the reason why I’m not thinking of applying to other instituions.
---That’s all thank you ma’am!

Between me and my husband, HE is the reader. He had completed reading all those Rick Riordan, Dan Brown, J. K. Rowling books and has been a J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis fan even before we met, started dating, and got married. After we settled down he’s got more stuffs than I do until his so-called “mini-library” isn’t that “mini” anymore, which is why I’m glad he hasn’t read this homework yet about the blog we were supposed to comment, otherwise, he would’ve been really critical.
The opening salvo of the article gave me a flashback on one of my husband’s favorite part in Lewis’ Prince Caspian. On the last part of the novel, he said, Aslan, the Great Lion, asked Prince Caspian if he is ready to become king of Narnia. Caspian answered: “I don’t think I can never be ready to become king,” to which Aslan replied, “Then you ARE ready to be crowned king.” (well that’s how I remembered him saying, anyway.) After escaping an assassination attempt, slaughter by Narnians, underestimation of former kings, and being outmatched by a battle-hardened army he was able to unite Narnian outcasts, contact help, strategize, and acquire the help of the most powerful being in the world of Narnia. All those and he still has the gall to call himself “not ready”.
I have the most unfortunate (or maybe fortunate depending on who you’re talking to) chance to have known if not personally get acquainted to educators who have been in the field for more than I do (my husband included) but a lot of them have never laid claim that they already know (or knew) what the REAL BASICS are. Yes they are masters in their own field, and they had been leaders in their own right in terms of educating learners but what I hear mostly from them is that Teaching is a never ending learning process. Nothing can prepare future teachers what is about to come once they are already out there showing what they got, and proving to employers that hiring them is the best choice. The real world is a much more complicated scenario. Neophyte educators can only imagine themselves what’re they going to do once the situation appears but, as luck would have it, it isn’t the same in the real world. In short, reality bites.
The real question now, after reading the blog is: “Where does THE BASIC really begin?” Does it begin on the first day that you set foot on the College of Education? Does it begin in the freshmen years? Does it begin after the Education Major graduate? Does it begin when this graduate is hired for the first time in an educational institution? Basic is synonymous with rudimentary, elementary, essential, and necessary. When does the “rudimentary, elementary, essential, and necessary” begin in the field of education?
Janice E. Cruz
TumugonBurahinMaEdMathematics
For the sake of argument, we’ll assume (Another thing that my husband wouldn’t approve. He kept on telling me that: “Whenever you assume, it will make an ASS out of U and ME!”) that the REAL BASIC begins in the fresh graduate’s first year of employment as an educator and that, as the blog had stated, commitment is the beginner’s requirement. No debate about that. But in as much as I would like to totally agree on how commitment should be measured I firmly believe that it goes beyond choosing to spend the teacher’s time in checking quizzes and home works instead of resting, or multi-tasking while doing household chores or doing groceries. Commitment is putting your heart in whatever you do. It is not doing something in lieu of another task. Can you say that a teacher is committed to the teaching career if your dishes are gathering molds in the kitchen because you have to devote your time in checking quizzes and tests? Commitment is placing your best foot forward in spite of possible precarious repercussions. Commitment is not a matter of choosing a priority in life but rather being able to accomplish what has to be done while pulling off another significant undertaking effectively. Will you consider a teacher a committed one if you find that teacher suddenly lost in his/her thought, mind drifting somewhere else while in the market? Commitment is being there when needed and answering the call of duty not because the teacher can but because the teacher should.
Empathy is okay and all, but understanding their feelings and what they must have been going through in their young lives is not enough. To say it bluntly, empathy is just, well, empathy. Someone once told me that in dealing with children you can either ride with their tide, or pull ‘em up to your higher level. If a teacher just tries to understand their learners by “putting themselves in their learner’s shoes”, which is the basic essence of empathy, without making it step forward then where’s the progress in it? If you just put on their shoes but didn’t make a single step so they would come out of the curb and be somewhere better then what good would staying put make? Empathy is good but sometimes a teacher has to give the learner the opportunity to move forward using the understanding the educator has gained from the student.
Lastly, giving attention to cordial relation is something I personally wouldn’t put too much stock in. Those three groupies? Well, personal experience wouldn’t match up to them. Pakikisama is, again, good and all that but bottom line? You have to be your own man (or woman) to become effective. Ride along with the tide for a time, yes, but you have to stick to your own principles, one way or another. You don’t have to be stubborn or bone-headed to prove your point. Doing it will make you a jerk in front of everyone (and even behind your back). The real challenge, probably, is how to have cordial relationships with your colleagues without losing who you really are in the process. Doing pakikisama may show what you can do but it doesn’t define WHO YOU TRULY ARE (all apologies to Moana). King Shariman from the movie “Prince of Persia” said: “A true king considers the advice of counsel but always listens to his heart.”
However, it doesn’t mean that there is nothing more to be done when in fact there is a lot to think about and accomplished for the sake of the next generation of educators. As current practitioners in the field of education, it is still important to have the heart in this noble profession: the heart to endure, the heart to care, the heart to be there, matched with the will to survive, the determination to effect change, the courage to face the consequences, and the faith on the higher powers that be.
TumugonBurahinMoreover, as teachers training others to be teachers too, though understanding is the foundation of every choice that we could make, there’s nothing wrong with raising the notch a little higher for future teachers to empower them on what is to come if they are to pursue this life-long journey filled with complications (and might I add, financial instability), and breeding them to a leveled-up horizon so that facing the challenges of education may be lot easier.
Furthermore, cordial relation has its limits, and has more disadvantages, experience-wise, than advantages. At the end of the day, a review of one’s self accomplishment only warrant a smile if you find yourself noting that you’ve accomplished everything that you need to accomplish if you made the decision-making yourself.
Lastly, schools and universities already have their own immersion and acclimatization programs to enhance teaching skills and expose education students in what they might encounter as teachers. What is needed is further intensification of the said program and its proper implementation. Why bother with more when what we already have only needs a few tweaking now and then.
Truly everything must start from within, heck it must begin somewhere. But the basics or the essentials should never commence after graduation. It must begin during conceptualization and choosing of the course or track to be taken. Starting there spells a great difference.

For 4 years in teaching profession, it is indeed nice to take time to read for some topics like this. After years of stressful works and pressure in the field yet, when I read about the message of this blog, it made me reminisced the way I see teaching before when I was still a hopeful student who dreamed to become a real educator who inspire, motivate, and have that long-lasting passion for reaching out to students especially those who are academically and emotionally challenged students. It's indeed "refreshing" of my solemn promise - that is to touch lives far beyond from just feeding their minds with facts. It is by heart that I teach my students. It's what students remember, the way you made them feel is what will inculcate in their hearts and in their minds.

TumugonBurahinLately, I keep on asking myself why Am I teaching and thought that there are many other things that I can do that will somehow make use of my other skills and potentials. But after reading this, I was reminded the reasons why I stayed in the field of education for five years. Teaching is not just a job, it is a mission and it is our task to train the next generation. Remember that we, as teachers, are the hope of those that we consider the "hope of our motherland." Sometimes, we feel tired, exhausted or taken for granted, but these should not stop us. If we want to produce successful members of the society, it should start within us, it should start with our eagerness to pass our knowledge to those who believe in us. Do not be selfish. teach them, teach them well, teach them well with compassion. Do not underestimate your profession . It may be the noblest (as what other say), but remember that your profession is your power. Use your power to make change, use your power to create a better tomorrow. Maybe you can't be spider man, wonder woman, any marvel heroes or powerpuff girls to save the day but you can be the best teacher to save the future. :)

Nine years in the service of education and am still looking forward to nine years and more. Seven years in a private school and two years in the public school system but the challenges remain the same. The basics are still applicable wherever and whatever educational institution a teacher may be. Generations may pass and students come and go but the calling remains constant.
Experience-wise, I cannot contradict the statements made by the article. Mastery of the subject is a basic requirement every educator must have. No mastery meant certain death to us as teachers. Respect to the profession, idealism of one’s self, and trust in the system dies every time a teacher enters the classroom with nothing but ’oohs’ and ’aahs’ in his/her head and knows no other instruction but ”Open your books on page blah-blah-blah.”
Commitment is something every teacher must have, not only to the tasks he/she has to face on the days ahead as an educator but to the profession as well. Paperworks are the twin siblings of the job and mingling with people both pleasant and unpleasant are part of the job description. It would take a heart-filled commitment to last long in this job because the contrary meant one is not fit being a teacher.
And lastly, forgetting empathy for students is a big no-no for teachers. As public school teachers, painful as it may sound, it will always - ALWAYS - be teacher factor. Feeling what our students feel is a good thing but understanding them is better and has better mileage in terms of long-lasting results especially in the public school system where students are hindered by economic instability and sometimes, domestic issues, worse, parental disturbance.
It says.."the heart of education is education of the heart. Truly in my 20 years in the field of teaching It is with my own heart that I may able to reach that long in the service. Low salary has been one of our common cry among us teachers for it cannot accommodate our needs and expenses especially for the teachers spending an amount to reach the area of assignment. Many teachers apply for a work abroad because they want to try a better salary than what we received here in our country. Some have tried other field of work because they want higher earnings. As teachers we need to educate first our hearts to love our work..because when we feel loving our environment as teachers the it goes out everything from us the love for the less fortunate children. dedication for work even it is outside our teaching time. we feel we are the second parents of our students and we enjoyed the company of our co teachers staff and every people surrounding our profession because it is in our hearts that pushes to do such. the LOVE FOR WORK IS WHAT MATTERS MOST IN TEACHING AND ALL OTHER FIELD OF ENDEAVOR.
TumugonBurahinTeaching is the noblest profession. It is not just a career but a vocation, its not only a job but also a profession of heart. I believe that there will be no other professions without TEACHERS!! As a teacher, love your students as your own children..As the bible said: Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Basic Education... hirap kahit sabihing basic imagine need ipasa kahit no read no write, ung manners nalang ng mga bata kaya? This story made me think who I am now, where I am now and what I am doing now. It gives me a realization about my profession as a teacher. I have been an English as a Foreign Language Teacher (EFL) instructor for 8 years. It is half of the experience of the author in teaching profession.
Looking back at my first year of teaching, I felt like I should not be where I am, and I was thinking that this profession might only be a good stepping stone to achieve my future goals which are actually not related with teaching; however, as time goes by, I met different people, and those people made me realize why I should be in this profession and why I should be with these learners who are eager and hungry to learn. Actually, I have been mastering how to deal with different learners and colleagues and I have realized the importance of dealing and understanding them. Another thing that I have learned is that SYMPATHY is not enough. You have to EMPATHIZE with your students and the people around you. Most of all, I learned that teaching is more than just a career. It is a profession that will inspire and mold a lot of people/leraners.
I recommend this article to those who want to be enlightened and to those who want to challenge themselves in their teaching profession.
I also want to share this quotation.

“It’s Monday again… Hello work again…” These are just some of the lines that most of us teachers say. But we cannot deny the fact that teaching is a vocation. Yes, I experienced also that while resting, I am thinking of my paper works, lessons for the following days, as well as activities, and other school – related works. But despite of these, seeing the progress of my students as they study makes me feel accomplished. In the part of how I deal with my colleagues, I can say that understanding is very important. Whether they challenge you, they help you, or they never mind you, what’s important is that you’re doing your role as a teacher in a right way. Don’t expect something in return. As what had been stated, once the teachers did something better for their students, they are also doing the same thing to their superiors and to the school, and I really agree to that. Having a good character and personal values are the things we have to consider. Remember that teaching is our choice. All we have to do is to do our best while in the field!

In any field of life, there are the basics. These basics are to be mastered. It serves as our foundation for success. Truly, commitment to the profession, empathy with students and cordial relations are the basics in the field of education. As a committed teacher, it is expected for us to think and act as teachers whether inside or outside the school. It is our responsibility to perform and do our tasks as outstanding as it can be. Due to this, for some time we bring our works with us and tend to finish it at home.
Students are the reason why we are in school; they are our means and our ends. To win their heart, teach them by the heart. Nowadays they don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care. As for our colleagues, unity and harmony are the keywords to have an ideal workplace. Let us always remind ourselves of what Patrick Henry said, “United we stand, divided we fall.” Another is “no man is an island”, either they challenge us or help us; still they are contributors of our growth professionally. Colleagues give us reasons to perform well.

A teacher should possess a sense of commitment, devotion, and dedication to the profession, giving emphaty for every student and cordial relations with others.
There's a lot of struggle expressed in this blog that every teachers faced but there always one reason to continue the fight and that is shaping and molding our student to be productive individual of our society this is our obligation.
To become a best teacher theirs no exact words that can give. But one thing I need to provide and that is to develop their HEART, MIND, and SOUL.

How to be a teacher?
What are the sacrifices that we made in order to give quality education to our students?
"Teaching is the noblest profession." Gigising ng maaga at uuwi ng hapon, minsan gabi pa.... But we must also remember to thank our former teachers and professors because they transferred their learning and expertise to us. What we know now is just the product of their teaching with some self efforts to learn. Teaching is also not a career but a calling, not up for the salary but for the gain of making the students learn. A teacher must also have the HEART to understand, not just KNOWLEDGE and a good CHARACTER.

"Commitment to the profession, Empathy with learners and Cordial relationship with colleagues - truly these may define what a teacher suppose to be. But are there ways to evaluate a teacfher applicant if he or she has these qualifications? especially nowadays that teaching is now not considered primarily as a service rather as a way of earning?
With or without, what matter most is how we sustain the ideals being shared in this post. I personally agree to the ideas Mam have shared. We must adhere to the idea that we teach not only for ourselves but fort the betterment of the lives of our learners more so of the society. Still, we must walk hand in hand to remind our colleagues whenever they lost their commitment, neglect the learners and other teachers.

Mastery of the subject matter, lesson planning, teaching strategies, writing test questions and classroom management. Check na check.Nagawa at ginagawa.
Saan man, kailan man ikaw ay guro.

Dr. Santos, this article is very educating and reflective to teachers especially to those new in teaching profession. I enjoyed reading it. Sad but true, entering in this profession is like a thread entering a needle's hole. It really takes time for the real commitment to take place especially if things happen so unexpectedly as your case have told. From my experience, I can only say that a teacher must possess these three real basics. These are passion, effort, and trust. Passion, in a sense that you're giving your love to this profession. Effort, because perseverance and commitment takes a lot of pressure to handle. And of coarse, have trust to yourself with your chosen profession. As what I have seen from most of our fellow teachers' comments, we all agree that after reading this, we must equip ourselves with these ideas for the fulfillment of our professional development. Words are more powerful when used and performed in real life.

TumugonBurahinI agree with the author of the article that the basics of the teaching profession can only be summed up to three..A teacher should have a commitment to love his/her profession. This is the basic foundation to last in this vocation. teaching is not a career; it is more of a calling. Next, empathy towards your students really counts. If you are a real teacher by heart, you will have compassion to your students.. Having in mind that you are the only richness your students have for now will indeed help a lot. your pakikisama with your colleagues really helps a lot if you do not want to be bullied around and if you want to be a good team player. Jiving with the organization is really a challenge but it will really pay off in the long run.. Step out of your comfort zone and embrace the profession you have chosen and i bet you that you will make a big difference in the lives of your students and in this world...
I will definitely agree to you Ma’am, all teachers should know what real basics are. While I am reading this blog, I remember my first year of teaching. Every time that I used to give up, I would just keep on asking myself; Why I am here? I really don’t know what is the reason before, but now I know. Teaching is not just making someone to learn, scores are just numbers. This is what I am now, this is my choice, and I am always be committed to this field. Whoever my students are, I will be always understand them no matter what. And have a cordial relations with my colleagues, will always be in my heart.
TumugonBurahinFirst of all, I highly commend the nicely put thoughts into words by the blogger, Dr. Santos. The piece speaks well of your honest observations and realizations as to the real essence of teaching. I may not be as seasoned and experienced as you are, but I share the same thoughts with you when we speak of the profession. In everything we do, we should always think of the core reason of why we do things. It adds to our motivation, knowing that we teach not just for work, but we teach for the advocacy of touching and molding the minds of our students, and that we influence them into becoming the ideal citizens they ought to be in the future.
TumugonBurahinAs to the title and concept of this article, if I may just add, I would like to emphasize that it is also a core basic for us, teachers, that we should treat our students as our own children. We are not just teachers, but we are indeed their second parents. In fact, they spend even greater time with us at school: 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 4 weeks a month, and 10 months a year. Bottom line is, as their (second) parent, we would only want to give them the BEST and what is BEST FOR THEM.

This blog article is very informative and I strongly agree with you ma’am, we us teachers should always challenge ourselves to strive more to learn. That we educators have to constantly adapt to the ever changing technological environment without forgetting the basics of the teaching profession. Looking back at my first year of teaching, my only goal that time is to master my subject matter and teach what the student must learn but the time passed by I realized that my obligation as a teacher should not stop on four corners of the classroom. I learned to embrace everything attached to teaching and to the students.
Our obligation as teacher is to developed students potential and self-confidence but we should also be vigilant and give empathy to the students as they experience a lot of thing in their lives that we took for granted according to Chanakya “ A teacher is never an ordinary person. Construction and Destruction can be produced in his lap” our power as teacher depends on how we mold our the learners. Lastly developing productive work relationships is important to us because it helps us to feel more satisfied at work and fosters a positive environment in the workplace.
To summed up teaching is a very noble responsibility in preparing the next generations to survive the demands of time. Just give our best and be their guide as they explore.

This article is a good source of a teacher's foundation before he or she go to school. I feel the article in all aspects not because I'm a teacher but because I'm surrounded by different educators and students.
I remember when I was still an education student, we are being suplied with lot of information regarding our course. There are times when I decide to shift course because I see myself as a teacher that resembles my teachers in highschool.
I studied at a public school in province thus, I know how they act in dispensing information.
I am already three years in service in a private school and I can now compare private school to public school in all aspects.
It is true that you must have a cordial relations to your co teachers and admins. You should show respect to them anytime. You need to understand each strength and weaknesses. Sometimes you will hear undiserable words from them but you need to take it as a challenge not a hindrance.
I really love my students. I once become an student and I know their burden. Each students are different thus never compare a student to another because they have their unique characteristics and abilities. I will always show my support to my students because I know the feeling when a teacher shows support to you.
I will share this article to every teacher I know because this will help them a lot in dealing with a day to day battle in school.

Teaching is undoubtedly not as easy as counting from one to three. As noble as it is, teaching is indeed a demanding task as well. Much is required from us. Young minds are being entrusted to our care and we are expected to transform and mobilize these minds into competent and productive citizens someday. We are not just plain “teachers” anymore; several other roles and responsibilities go along with this title. And that is the challenge for us; staying as long as we can in the field and inspiring as many minds as we should.
This experiential and contemplating article speaks the truth. I agree with the author’s thoughts and ideas that teachers, mainly the neophyte ones must keep in mind that developing a sense of commitment to what we pledged to undertake, showing compassion and understanding about students’ emotions and sentiments, and creating a positive and friendly relationship with our colleagues will do some great help in staying and keeping on moving forward in this profession. Being committed means that sacrifices are to be made along the way. Effort, time and resources will surely be exerted and spent. Sometimes, there comes a point where we have to give up or spend our own leisure time for our students for us to religiously carry out our call. Theirs before ours as the saying goes.
I remember this inspiring statement I once heard in a movie and it said, “Our lives are not measured in years. They are measured in the lives of people we touch around us.” This I think is what empathy is all about. I commend the author for recognizing empathy as one of the real basics because truly, students do not care how much we know unless they know how much we care for them. Sometimes, we have to understand our students for they are battling their own problems as well. Let them feel that they are wanted, being listened to and valued for. Create an environment where they feel safe, accepted and understood. As teachers, it is either we make or break the future of our learners. As regards with going along with our colleagues, respect sums it all. Accepting one’s strengths, specially, one’s weakness creates a bond that will motivate you to work harder for the betterment of the institution and improvement of our learners. We should encourage a work environment where no competition is brewing. Besides, we are all on the same boat participating in this arduous yet fulfilling journey, reaching one great destination; transforming our learners into better individuals than they already are.
This article further affirms what I had thought in mind 2 years ago when I just finished my first year of teaching. We are what we are; teachers, great shapers of future. But soon, we will genuinely become more that what we already are. And that is one thing we should not be afraid of but instead, be proud of. We are one of the embodiments of hope. We must get that HOPE to work. Truth be told, this informative blog and its random comments and opinions coming from other teachers are worth sharing.

I won't be shocked if someday you will publish a book. You have talent in writing Ms. Santos and i salute you for that.
At first, I thought your blog is quite long and boring but going through the details I found it so interesting. Ideas after ideas...it complements and make your work so fascinating. I hope you will invest in this talent.
Teaching is demanding work indeed. But it is all worth it. There is no greater call than to be the teacher of the 'next generation'. In teaching profession, and other professions, learning the fundamentals are vital. Joseph B. Wirthlin-a humble leader from the past stated his words of wisdom and I quote, "Great sculptors and artists spend countless hours perfecting their talents. They don't pick up a chisel or a brush and palette, expecting immediate perfection. They understand that they will make many errors as they learn, but they start with the basics, the key fundamentals first".
Why should we start with the 'Real Basics'? Simple...from small and simple things great things are made. In the field of teaching the 'Real Basics' that i believed are: First, faith- Faith to the giver of knowledge, faith to the facilitator of knowledge and faith to the receiver of knowledge.Second, acknowledgement of your call as a teacher-the noblest profession.Third, commitment to your call. Fourth, understanding of your far-reaching influence to the lives of the people around you.

Thank you madam for giving us the opportunity to read your blog!!
What do the real basics mean? What does it mean to be a great teacher? This blog made me realized how important is my profession, not only for myself but most especially to others. Of course credentials, knowledge, critical thinking, and all other faculties of intelligence are important. However, a great teacher should be much more than credentials, experience and intelligence. One question was in my mind upon reading the blog. "What lies in the heart of a great teacher?" A great teacher shows kindness to students, colleagues, parents and those around her/him. It truly changes the environment in the classroom and school. Being a kind teacher helps students feel welcomed, cared for and loved. Teaching is a very humanistic profession, and compassion is the utmost feeling of understanding, and showing others you are concerned about them. A compassionate teacher models that characteristic to the students with her/his actions, and as a result students will be more open to understanding the world around them. Empathy is such an important trait to have and to try to develop in ourselves and our students. Being able to put yourself in someone’s shoes and see things from their perspective can have such a powerful impact on our decisions and actions.Being a positive teacher is even harder when we’re always met with problems with very limited solutions. However, staying positive when it’s tough can have such a tremendous positive impact on the students and everyone around us. Looking on the bright side always seems to help make things better. A great teacher bridges gaps and builds relationships, friendships, and a community. Teachers always look to make things better and improve things in and outside of the classroom. Building a community is something a great teacher seeks to do in the classroom and extends that to the entire school and its community. Everyone looks at a great teacher and they want to be a better teacher, they want to be a better student, even better, they want to be a better person. However, a great teacher should be much more than credentials, experience and intelligence. For me, the real basics of being a teacher is not just you as a teacher, it is your heart on how you touch the lives of your students. A great teacher uncovers hidden treasures, possibilities and magic right before everyone’s eyes. I am proud to be one!!

This reminds me of my principal in a private school who keeps on telling us that as we travel going to school, our minds should be filled with teaching strategies and how can we make the day's lesson easy and clear. And as days passed, instead of having earphones and listening to music in an hour of travel going to school, i am fond of asking myself what to do today. What is my plan today? How can I motivate students today? What's new today?
Now I am in my fourth year in this profession. I can't deny that sometimes, I feel exhausted. I am thinking of leaving the teaching profession. I don't gain much income. But then I realize that this profession is not about the income. It is about the outcome. So to all of us, the educators of today, let us give ourselves in this profession. We cannot gain a lot here, financially, but we can gain a lot of learnings, experiences, and camaraderie. Let us give the students what they deserve and be good to our colleagues so that we can establish harmonious relationship in the circle we are in today.

As I am reading this blog, it is as if I am watching a short film about teaching. My students, superiors, colleagues, and most of all, my profession itself never leave my mind. It is as if they are flashing at the back of my mind as I internalized every concept the author is giving. The “basics” she talked about will give us the most appropriate overview of our field. And if I will be ranking my priorities based on those factors, my students should be at the top spot because like the author mentioned, they are the benefactor of all our hardships. They should gain what they deserve whatever the challenges or trials it will bring us. Empathy with them will let us feel the real essence of being their second parent not just a teacher. And as their parent, I want to give the best for my children and there comes the great planning for their future even while taking a bath or eating my meals. Asking myself what will be best them; what will caught their attention; which method should I use now to let them learn as they enjoy every little process.
Now, I am already in my fourth year of teaching and I can honestly say that I cannot imagine myself in other profession. Not just because of my students who are my second family, but also because of the friendship I gain from my colleagues. Thinking of leaving them will surely give me a heartache that made me realized that proving that teaching is a noble profession is not just in words uttered by my mouth but my heart. So to cut the story short, teaching is indeed a never – ending process but it will give you life you’ll never forget and family that will treasure every memory with you.

What if one took education course because of some reasons and not his personal choice, no heart for teaching. I don’t think the future depends on him. Being in the field of teaching for only 8 years now, I believe that I have so many things to learn about. But loving what I am doing gives me the desire to know more. What you shared Ma’am – The Real Basics can’t be acquire easily. It’s a process. I agree that every teacher should be committed to the profession. He will learn to understands their behavior if he will try to put himself to his students shoes. Understanding them will not only help the teacher to do his job well, but also do the tasks with heart. And lastly, cordial relations with the colleagues is a big help to lessen the hard work of teaching. I can say that having good relationship with workmates is a bonus. What is the most important knowledge that the learner should know is it mathematics that I believe develop our civilization, is it science that also develop our civilization, English as the universal language that enables us to communicate with different people with different nationality, history that teach us lesson from the pass, Technology and Livelihood Education that teach the student skills for their future work, Music Arts Physical Education and Health that brings the artistic and sporty side of the student, or Education sa Pagpapakatao that teach the learners how to deal with different kind of situation that the leaners will encounter. After brainstorming I realize that the most important knowledge that the learner should learn is the core values because the leaners of today can learn any kind of subject or any kind of skill but when it comes to ability to deal with different kind of difficult situation not all of the learners can handle. And I admit that many of the learners today don’t have good values.
The role of the teacher is not just teaching the subject that he handle but the role of the teacher is to gear up the learner for their future. Teachers has a great responsibility towards their learner thus the teacher should be knowledgeable of many things in life and should know how to guide different learner. The teacher is the role model of every learner. Teachers should commit their self into teaching because teaching is not a simple job it is a noble job and they are not just chosen but they are called.

TumugonBurahin"Whatever my eyes desired, I didn't keep from them. I didn't withhold my heart from any joy, for my heart rejoiced because of all my labor, and this was my portion from all my labor. Then I looked at all the works that my hands had worked, and at the labor that I had labored to do; and behold, all was vanity and a chasing after wind, and there was no profit under the sun."
These were the words of King Solomon as he viewed what is life and what is the meaning of it and all the work and labor is causes man.
As a teacher who work for five days in the school aside from works and preparation done at home. I can say that it is really exhausting. It even compromised my relationship to my family, friends and own life.
There are times, during my self evaluation, I asked myself this question "When will be the end of these things?" sometimes it gave me the feeing of tiredness of the things repeatedly happening in my everyday life.
But what enlightened me was knowing that if all your work and labor is done out of love and it is for God, then you will rejoice instead of being anxious and demotivated.
Life is not just about WORK or LABOR it is about LOVE. and this will give meaning to everything that you do.
St. Paul said that even if he speak like angels, but don't have love, he is just like a sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. If I give away all my goods to fed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don't have love, it profits me nothing."
Do everything out of LOVE and you will see the true meaning and essence of what you are doing.
Before we teach our students the "Real Basics", we should learn first the True Basic that we learn how to love, love our work, our students, the lessons, their future, and pour the ingredients of love in whatever you will do. for everything be tested in the sight of God.

TumugonBurahinBeing a teacher is not easy, there are many challenges that you will face and there are a lot of people you will meet. To the world, you may just be a teacher, but always remember that in the eyes of your students, you are a hero. We know that it takes big heart to help shape little minds. In my ten years of teaching, I've met a lot of students, it's hard when the time comes that you need to let them go, let go because they will face another chapter in their lives. I've also met my co teachers, others helped me improved, but some make me stronger. I have my superiors that didn't support me sometimes and brought me down, but as a teacher, I should be strong because my students rely on me. It is difficult to go to school having a heavy carriage, but for the sake of your students, you will do anything to keep them going. As a teacher, I didn't give up, because if I do, how can I touch lives? Teachers who love teaching teach children to love learning. We may forget the names of our student, but we will never forget on how they made us feel. By being a teacher, there are a lot of sacrifices, we usually consume ourselves to light the way of others. We have the profession to create other professions. We should not only teach using a book, but rather we should teach using our hearts. I am Mr. Jayson Perez Latube, I chose to be a teacher and I chose to touch lives. May God bless us all.

“A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.” (Mustafa Kemal Atatürk). This quotation is somehow related to your blog ma'am. We, teachers, are the guide of our students. As we guide them, some of our personal things are being sacrificed. As you mentioned in your blog, rest is just an option. When you commit yourself in teaching, we always think of our students like what are the strategies/techniques that are suitable for them, the best motivation that will catch their attention etc. Also, the experiences like checking papers while watching television or browsing your fb account is very true. We, teachers, always find ways on how we can teach the students not only academic lessons but also values that are useful in their everyday living.
I agree with the statement that teachers bring a big impact to the lives of the students. Why? Simply because teachers mold and shape a child to become a better citizen. So what is the challenge now? As a teacher, I should love this profession because when you love what you are doing you will do your best to every work that you have or every work that is assigned to you. Another is that it is a big fulfillment when you see your students from learning and discovering things to being a successful individual.
This blog very inspiring. We are being reminded of who a teacher is, what are their responsibilities and how special is this profession compare to other profession. Thank you ma'am for this informative blog and I learned a lot from it.

THE REAL BASICS
As I was reading the article, suddenly a question just popped up to my mind; Do I already know the real basics as a teacher?
"Teaching is not just an ordinary job but it is a noble profession." Ever since college and on my first to second year of teaching, I frequently heard these words from our professors, instructors and superiors. And I totally agree as I agree to the article that once you get into teaching, remembering at least three things is good enough. The first one is to develop a sense of commitment to the profession. Being in the profession and accepting it as your lifetime profession is never easy. You should be willing to give and commit your whole life to it. And I again agree that wherever you are, whatever you do, it's as if your mind and heart will always be thinking your class and most especially your students. Secondly is the empathy with students. I know to most of us, our students are not just students for us, they are like our friends and most likely our family members. That everything we do, we always take into consideration the welfare of our students. I know that most of us teachers are trying our very best to give our students every best that they can have. We can make or break them. And lastly, cordial relations with our colleagues. As I have read in the article, it really takes a lot of guts to "pakikisama" to be accepted by our colleagues especially if you are new to the institution. But a good relationship towards your colleagues is one of the most important factors when you make decision of leaving or staying in the institution. They are actually one of the many people who could help you to improve as a teacher.
So with that, let's help make the future of our students the brightest. Let us continue to take and embrace the responsibility that our profession, Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions.
As I read your article mam (Dr. Santos) I realized that the dedication to teaching, sensitivity to every student's feeling and concern to society is what the REAL BASICS all about for me.It summarizes all the things that a teacher should possesses.Knowing and giving the basic needs of every human. From illiterate to literate human beings.

salamat po Mam sa pagpapaalala muli na "I'm on the right track baby, I was born this way!" :)
Kudos po Mam! :)

Teaching is a noble profession. It's a vocation, a calling. I always believe that a teacher is the most important person in a civilization because in his/her hands mold a nation. I am amazed on how the author expressed her thoughts about teaching and being a teacher. At my early beginning as a young teacher I always taught that if you get proper education you equip yourself with knowledge that eventually results to have right decision later in life when they get older. As teachers we are equipped with education to cater to students , goes to training and seminars to be properly guided with the know-how of teaching and learning process even revisiting certain topics just to be ready when we faces our students."As a teacher there are no secret or perfect strategy or method to used when you teach the only secret is commitment to teach, your passion of teaching lead you to do beyond what is expected of you"
One factor you stay on your dream job is also your colleagues 'when you have harmonious relationship with them, working itself doesn't feel working at all. If you had the opportunity to make them a favor do it happily without asking anything in return maybe someday you're the one who need their help. It goes beyond just work your workmates becomes your second family.
Education is not always making intellectual giants it's also having morally correct values putting you self on the shoe of others .I don't want students who are intellectual giants but ethically morons, that's why I always tell my challenged students "kahit di ka magaling sa math importante magaling ka sa values" latter years I realized this, that having the right attitude towards others and right mindset of what you do will get you places.

TumugonBurahinTeachers can, and do, change lives. They can light candles in the darkest mind. They can mould beliefs and behaviours, setting an example to follow. A great teacher is, of course, both a coach and a model. All great teachers bring their topic alive by constantly referring to current events and how knowledge of the subject enables better understanding of the world we live in. They show its relevance.
Work? Yes, this is the gift of God that has given to us. Maybe every one of us, has a different insight about work. We have different reason how we spend money came from our work.
When I was 17 years old, The Lord gave me a work right after I graduated high school. I was before a sales lady at SM Makati. That work was the reason why I didn’t continue my study that time. After my contract at SM Makati, I continued working in different company at different department store. I assumed that working in the department store was the permanent work that He gave me... But not, the only permanent that I got in working in the department store is my husband. I met my husband at Sm Carriedo. I was then a promo girl of Converse and he was a stockman of Adidas.
Binigyan Niya ako ng anak na matured, at the age of 3 years old ng youngest child ko, when I continue my schooling, ni minsan d nya ako iniyakan.

The real basics of a teacher can be summed up into three (3) Cs - competence, character and commitment.
Firstly, you need to be an expert of what you do because you cannot give what you do not have.
Secondly, you need to practice what you profess. By doing so, you’ll be able to influence others.
Lastly, you need to be passionately with what you do. When you love you do, it becomes sheer enjoyment.
Indeed, teaching is the most rewarding among all professions because we succeed when we see our students become greater than us.
TumugonBurahinI remember when I'm in 4th year college, I am asking my self at that time if I will continue studying my course which is education because I'm planning to give up and change my course because I've experienced loss of voice and hoarseness of my voice not only a week or a month but even a year. I was crying every night because how will I teach my students if I don't have a good voice, but I'm thankful for the advises that I've received from my friends, it helps me a lot to continue my passion even though until now I am continuously experiencing struggles in my voice but thank God I didn't give up . I didn't apply to the school where I am teaching now because I want to take a rest first after I graduate because I want to teach with a good voice and give my best to the learners, but this doesn't happen because when I visited to the administrator of my alma mater in high school to get my scholarship grant, he wanted me to work in his schook regardless of my voice, he gave me less teaching load and an office work then he said that I only need to pass my curriculum vitae and I'm in. I thank God for all the hardships and problems that I've experienced because He has a better plan for each one of us. Your blog ma'am motivates me to give my best and not to give up until the end. I want to be the best that I can be and to inspire and motivate also my students to study not only because they need to but also they want to learn and know more. My heart rejoices when a student told me "ma'am sana po ikaw yung maging adviser namin next year" and "ma'am ikaw na lang po magturo samin kasi kapag ikaw po nagtuturo naiintindihan po namin yung lesson". I'm glad because of that student who appreciates me, nakakawala ng pagod. It's true that "pakikisama is hard but I'm thankful because my colleagues are friendly so it's not hard for me to adjust and socialize with them. Again, thankyou for sharing your blog ma'am "A Teacher Till the End". God bless us in our profession

TumugonBurahinIts my 5th year in the teaching profession. But I still remember the first INSET that I have attended sponsored by my previous employer. Teaching is not a profession at all, because profession by definition is a type of job and job is done regularly in order to earn money. There's no money in teaching actually. As how my previous teachers way back in high school used to say, "walang yumayamang teacher", unless you put up a business or you came from a well to do family. In reality, teachers are "abonado" when it comes to teaching-learning resources. DepEd promotes NO COLLECTION POLICY but sometimes failed to supply the sufficient resources in terms of school supplies for the required activities written in the curriculum guide. My students often said, #LIBRE. For me to meet the set objective, I provide materials from my own pocket.
Teaching for me is also synonymous to sacrifice. I have to prepare my lesson for the next day before I go out with my family. My birth sign is a weighing scale, since I was born on October. And I learned how to live balancing my tasks and family.
If I will be defining what teaching is, it's the extension of my ministry, it's not my job. IT'S MY DUTY. All the money I have spent for my students is worthy, a sort of investment that I am bestowing and starting to reap. It is really the noblest profession. As I invest today, I am seeing the return of those investments as those students, one by one, coming back to me and saying, "Ma'am, graduate na po ako!"

Well,Ma'am as I continue reading your blog I just realize that teachers are playing a crucial part in the development of a child simply because we are molding minds of our young learners in their maximum potentials so that being a teacher is not just a job but because it is more than a job or profession because this is also our service for the humanity..eventhough most of the time teachers are being neglected by the society but being loved and recognized by the people is morethan enough to say that we can always achieve the real fulfillment that only teaching can give.
Thank you Ma'am for sharing your wonderful thoughts about teaching and everything you said must be remembered and applied not only inside the classroom but also in our students lives. As teachers, we should have tons of strategies for us to be able to teach each lesson effectively. For me teachers must possess good attitude because a great teacher shows kindness to students, colleagues, parents and those around him. My favorite saying is "kindness makes the world go around". It truly changes the environment in the classroom and school. Being a kind teacher helps students to feel more welcomed, cared for and loved. Teachers always let their students to express their thoughts and belief about something because teachers can also get knowledge/information from their students. Yes, teachers are the foundation of knowledge but they can also learn from students.

TumugonBurahinI agree to Ma'am Joy. As a teacher we should not consider our profession as a career, but let’s consider it as a very noble profession with a great responsibility. We are the one that has a power to affect and shape one’s life. We’re not teaching for us to be praised by our superiors or others, but to make the next generation of champions, champions means “successful in every field that they choose and have a right attitudes and fear of the Lord our God”. As a teacher we should be committed to our profession, have a heart and empathy towards the students for us to understand them, build trust and relationship with them, and have a right values for us to pass it to our students. It's relates to my teaching values "The teacher is the key in educating the students, yet, the former's love unlocks the creativity and potentials of the latter". Let’s give our very best for us to make a positive difference, work as if God is our employer not to impress others. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Colossians 3:23-24).

I agree that education is nothing if value is missing. We can be professionals and we can all get the titles that we want after studying for some time but values will always be something that everyone would look into and admire. Being a teacher who cares for the student’s welfare is a very noble thing to do because some teachers only think about getting things done. I strongly agree. You have said it well. You have mentioned 3 core values that teacher must have as a real basic; commitment to teaching, empathy to students, and cordial relationship with colleagues. These three are perfect examples of teaching as a mission and noble profession. Teaching is both a mission and a noble profession. One cannot stand without the other. It is a noble profession because teacher must be equipped with knowledge and skills during the performance of her duty (commitment). And when we say performance of duty; it consumes most of her time, consumes most of her concentration, and consumes most of her effort. I have seen my 2 sisters who are both elementary teachers. They bring paper works at home and sleep less every night. They have less time to meet family and friends, and less time for fun. It is a mission because only a teacher with virtuous and love for student can make a difference in students’ life. She becomes their parent, sister, best friend, mentor, an inspiration and a lot more. Teacher becomes all in one in a students’ life (empathy). That is how she makes a difference. Teaching becomes her passion. And passion is her mission. Teacher must use her heart to coexist with her colleague (cordial relationship). The decision of walking towards the path of teaching cannot be done overnight. As you have mentioned one must understand THE REAL BASICS and that is very true. I wish that as I am striving to become a teacher these core values (The Real Basics) of a teacher will be implanted deeply in my heart and existence as a whole.
TumugonBurahinThank you for imparting these thoughts. This reminds me of Robert Frost’s poem “ The Road Not Taken”. The last stanza contains;
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,,
And that has made all the difference.
The blogger discusses the three important things that we have to remember in becoming a teacher, First, develop a sense of commitment to the profession, being a teacher treating it a profession is not enough, it is a mission that is given to us to help us transform the life of our students. Second, empathy with students treating the student with TLC (tender, loving care) we the second parents of our student we must treat them as our own children to teach them the right attitude and character in life.Lastly, cordial relations with the colleagues, to have a good working relationship with your colleagues, will help you to become a better teacher through collaboration. I think the blogger is correct if you remember these three, you will be an effective and efficient teacher
TumugonBurahinA real teacher is also a student.

Our teachers are among the people who can have the greatest impact on our lives, who influenced among us in some way as when we grew up. Base on your blog ma’am there are 3 important things we need to mark for core values that teacher must have as a real basic; commitment to teaching, empathy to students, and cordial relationship with colleagues. Now that I am changing a new road, I am choosing to pe part of the new generation that can contribute to their success. My dedication and love as a future teacher will lead me to fullfill my happiness in life, also by touching every children heart.

the 4 year education course and the 1 semester or 2 of 18 units earned of becoming a teacher have differences. the training for the bachelor's degree is more intense than introducing the whole course in a very short span of 1 semester but in the end they just speak for the "real" basic of becoming a teacher. the author is right that others will consider it as a job and others as their passion.
TumugonBurahinfor me, being a teacher will require a very strong attitude...you need so much of patience, understanding, considering, cooperating and of course initiating.
a teacher need those traits to be able to cope with the world of the learners and to the world of the co-workers as any other professions also require.
sometimes i think of how will i start to change the old traditions or systems inside the school...buti na lang the author mentioned the word "catalyst"....
i am enlightened that anyone can be a starter of all things.. so why not become a spark to produce fire... educate one to teach many....
we all have differences but our real goal as a teacher is to educate.
the texts of the author will introduce the real world of a teacher in the most basic but the most significant setting.
Being a teacher carry a noble task. Great teacher produces great student. Teachers have a vital role for preparing the next generation. Not just being professionals but also having values. Mastery of subject is not enough but the real basic is the heart. Teacher must love his or her profession, students and colleagues. The author of the blog emphasizes that everything must start within.
TumugonBurahinTo become a teacher, one must think that it is not only a career, not only a job, not only your passion but your RESPONSIBILITY towards the students and the society I guess. Embracing the so called "pagiging guro" means committing yourself to the profession, loving your students inside and outside the classroom and maintaining harmonious relationship with your co-workers.
TumugonBurahinCOMMITTING YOURSELF TO YOUR PROFESSION - Lesson plan, quizzes, activities, visual aid, exams and so on.
LOVING THE STUDENTS - knowing their skills, knowing their progress but also involving yourself to their personal struggles
HARMONIOUS RELATIONSHIP WITH CO-WORKERS- establishing and maintaining good relationship between staffs, teachers, non-teaching and administration
There are three main concepts that I have learned from this blog entry of yours, ma'am. I have figured out that whatever advancements we might have to encounter in improving our curriculum for the welfare of the students, these three real basics should be maintained; SENSE OF COMMITMENT, EMPATHY WITH THE STUDENTS AND CORDIAL RELATIONS WITH COLLEAGUES.
TumugonBurahinUpon reading this blog, I have also realized that teaching is not just a noble profession, but it is a vocation wherein, it doesn't end inside the four corners of the classroom, but it extends as we continually touch the lives of our students not just academically but the morally and spiritually.
Thanks for the inspirational words of wisdom, ma'am :)
"DEVELOPING A SENSE OF COMMITMENT." I remembered what the priest had said in one of his homily regarding commitment. It comes from the Latin words 'cum' and 'misere'. Etymologically, it means to suffer with. From this sense, it follows that developing a sense of commitment, especially in the teaching profession entails sacrifices and suffering. How often do I think of teaching strategies and motivation during my everyday routine? A sense of commitment in the teaching profession entails real concern for the students welfare. More than the skills a teacher should have, the teacher should have the heart to listen to the students with empathy. The teacher should be with the students in order to really hone and develop them to become not just intelligent students but good students and leaders of the future.

I assume that the information you’ve shared will become so much of a help as you are opening our eyes to the real basics in teaching. Since I am on my preparation to becoming a teacher, I am on that stage where I believed that mastering the lesson and imparting knowledge to the students will make me a good teacher then I think I proved myself wrong. I should take note of your points as a guide for me to make a good start in the field.
